Student Workshop: Learning the Big Principles of a Circular Business

December 11, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Are you new to the Circular Economy? This workshop will introduce the main concepts and show how engineering, design, and business models intersect and work together using real life examples.

Participants will be expected to complete ~4 hours of self-directed material (which we will supply) before the interactive session.

The in-person workshop will include a recap of the main points in the supplied material, followed by an icebreaker to get to know the other participants, and an interactive workshop exploring the “service flip”.

In this activity from IDEO’s Circular Design Guide you’ll workshop how you might turn common products into a service model. Could your product be transformed into something that takes on a new or unexpected service experience? At the end of the session you’ll get to pitch your Service Flip idea!

Associate Professor Maryanne Large, Faculty of Science, USYD
Dr Melinda Gaughwin, School of Architecture, Design and Planning, USYD
Nina Juhl, Marketing and Community Manager, Incubate

This workshop is an in-person event so in order to keep our community safe, we ask you to not attend this workshop if you are displaying cold or flu-like symptoms. Please practice physical distancing and wash your hands regularly.

Sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer will be available at the venue.
