Tour of the Sydney Manufacturing Hub

November 22, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

During this tour the Sydney Manufacturing Hub (SMH) team will show you the new additive manufacturing capability available at the University of Sydney to produce components in metals, ceramics, polymers or composites. Additive manufacturing is a more sustainable manufacturing technology as little to no waste is created during the process itself and it is possible to recycle materials through some of these processes. SMH offers cutting-edge additive manufacturing tools and technical expertise to revolutionise the nature of manufacturing. Additive and advanced manufacturing is a broad set of enabling technologies, processes and practices that a wide range of industry sectors will adopt to improve their productivity and competitiveness. This unique, research-focused manufacturing facility enables concept-to-production capabilities in the areas of health, defence, transport and construction.

Chair and tour organiser: Gwénaëlle Proust, Professor of Materials Engineering at the School of Civil Engineering, and Academic Director of Sydney Manufacturing Hub, University of Sydney.
